For the 40th anniversary of Rémy Martin CLUB Fine Champagne Cognac, artist Dingzhe Gan was commissioned to develop a limited-edition packaging series inspired by the cultural spirit of the Chaoshan region in southern China. Known for its maritime heritage and entrepreneurial tradition, Chaoshan embodies a history of exploration, resilience, and connection to the sea.
Titled “Waves Rising” and “Tides Gathering,” the two regional editions draw from the coastal landscape, historical trade routes, and the enduring vitality of Chaoshan culture. Through this collaboration, the project translates regional identity into a contemporary visual narrative, honoring both the legacy of Rémy Martin CLUB and the cultural depth of the region.
The limited-edition release commemorates forty years of the brand’s presence while celebrating the spirit of movement, ambition, and cultural continuity that defines Chaoshan’s history.
ABOUT THIS WORK
Entitled Rémy Martin × Dingzhe Gan CLUB 40th Anniversary Limited Edition, the artwork unfolds as a visual interpretation of the sea-bound culture of Chaoshan. Waves, ports, and the historic Red-Headed Ships—symbols of maritime exploration—become central motifs within the composition.
Through layered composition and symbolic imagery, Dingzhe Gan bridges regional cultural memory with the visual identity of Rémy Martin. The packaging becomes both a storytelling surface and a celebration of heritage, transforming the anniversary edition into a collectible object that reflects the rhythm, ambition, and enduring vitality of Chaoshan culture.
ABOUT ARTIST
Dingzhe Gan
Dingzhe Gan is an illustrator based in China whose practice is rooted in engraving- and etching-inspired illustration. Through disciplined control of fine lines and intricate structures, he constructs highly detailed images that unfold with a strong narrative character.
Drawing from a wide range of historical and cultural references, Dingzhe Gan develops compositions that balance visual density with precision. His work is distinguished by its vintage sensibility, refined craftsmanship, and meticulous technique, creating illustrations that feel timeless, immersive, and carefully constructed.
His clients include Rémy Martin, Chow Tai Fook, Sam’s Club, Panasonic, Budweiser China, Pechoin, Codage Paris, and HARIO. His work has received multiple international recognitions, including the A’ Design Award (Silver), Pentawards (Silver), MUSE Design Awards (Platinum), and the iF Design Award.
